School Board president prepares to cut a gold and maroon ribbon to open the new swimming pool.

Whitney Point Board of Education members, administrators, staff and students were present on March 11, for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new swimming and diving pool.

This signaled the completion of the brand-new pool addition, a capital renovation that was voted on by the community in May 2021 and was completed this month.

The new pool reconstruction included rotating the footprint of the pool 90 degrees to allow for six lanes of swimmers and deepened the pool to allow for competitive diving. An all-new pool deck, expanded bleachers, state-of-the-art dehumidification system, and locker rooms were also upgraded.

The new pool building is a welcomed community resource that allows for year-round swimming for our students and community members. It will also enhance the district’s summer enrichment program, as swimming is a popular activity for our students participating in summer enrichment.
