On Wednesday, Nov. 13, Whitney Point Central School District students completed the final tour in a series of visits to local manufacturing facilities. The third and final stop was at Atwood Tool and Machine Inc., where students were given an exclusive tour of the family-owned business, led by a Whitney Point alum.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to observe high-tech manufacturing operations in action and gain valuable hands-on insight into modern industry practices. The tour highlighted the advanced equipment and processes that are used daily at Atwood Tool and Machine Inc., providing students a firsthand look at what a career in manufacturing entails.
The goal of these tours was to expose students to real-world environments and showcase the diverse career opportunities available in the manufacturing industry. This experience not only broadened their understanding of the field but also emphasized the importance of local businesses and the skilled trades as viable and rewarding career paths.
“We’re grateful to the Atwood family for opening their doors to our students and sharing their knowledge about the industry,” said WP High School Counselor Beth Konicki. “Opportunities like these help students make informed decisions about their futures and connect classroom learning to real-world applications.”
The Whitney Point Central School District extends its heartfelt thanks to the Atwood family and all local businesses that participated in this valuable educational series. We look forward to continuing our partnerships and providing more opportunities for students to explore potential careers in our community.
