Sixty-five 8th graders attended a 3-day trip to Washington D.C. Highlights included several Smithsonian museums and monuments along the National Mall including the National World War II Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Korean War Memorial. Arlington Cemetery and the changing of the guard was outstanding, especially when they were able to find the grave of one student's fallen ancestor. The students walked through Ford's Theater where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated and made a stop at the Marine Corps War Memorial (aka Iwo Jima). In lighter moments, they watched the Washington Nationals square off against the Padres and ended their visit at the National Zoo.
