The other day our 2nd graders shared their finished books with their special grownups. Today they got a chance to inspire 1st graders! The 2nd graders met with 1st graders and read their non-fiction animal books. The 2nd graders explained the writing process and how it just doesn't happen overnight. 1st graders were able to ask questions and give positive comments. So many 1st graders shared that they learned something new and they also shared how impressed they were with the illustrations and the writing! Many are excited to do this when they come to 2nd grade! This was an amazing and positive learning opportunity for all involved!

Today we had a Parent Engagement Event that started with Mrs. Priscott talking to parents about reading and writing here in CEA and how grownups at home can help. Then 2nd graders shared their finished books. 2nd Graders have been working hard in writing! We have been reading and learning about non-fiction and then wrote our very own non-fiction books. This did not happen overnight. Students worked hard on choosing an animal - researching their animal and then organizing their writing. Grownups from our families and grownups in our school came to listen to our INCREDIBLE books! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CAME AND SHARED IN OUR CELEBRATION! It is fun to be an author!
